Taking A Stand In The Face Of A Deluge

Somewhere around 100,000 of us showed up at the October 18th, 2025 NO KINGS rally in Minneapolis, MN. The vibe I felt was chill, serious, and determined, with a healthy dollop of intentional ridiculousness in the form of folks in inflatable costumes and those with clever signage. I felt relief to see so many others who value democracy, due process, civil rights, and recognize our government’s corruption by the billionaire class. When one stays on top of current events, day by day, week by week, the corruption and destruction of our democracy is gobsmacking (see professor and historian, Heather Cox Richardson, for weekly recaps). It felt good to take action to say, ‘we see you, and we don’t support what’s being done with our tax dollars.’
